I confess I’m not entirely sure what exactly this company is selling, but their UI design people seem like they have their shit very much together, which anymore is a singular rarity. The linked example is to a skin for a text-entry web app, which looks better than 80% of those I’ve seen even on the most design-oriented of sites.

Apparently the Win7 UI people (led by the ribbon witch) had some usability reports indicating that ”users often closed applications and reopened them just so they could reorder the buttons on the taskbar.” Also note the title headings near the end of the article: it smacks less of a deployment guide than disaster preparation.

Another puzzling software find aimed at the clueless designer: they take old wood type chars, make individual prints (with no references, just the block that hits the page) into layered TIFFs, dick with the images, rescale them (!), and charge you FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS to laboriously try to set and kern bitmaps by hand! They even suggest you use GenuineFractals to upsample them yourself!
